Half-day Thai cooking class at Smile Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, with market visit, transfers, herb garden, curry paste, curry, and spring rolls.

“This is a great solo, family or group experience. The half day session starts at the market with an explanation of Thai spices and veggies. From the market to the farm is a 30+ min. car ride. The farm and kitchen setting is exceptionally well set-up and organized. They can handle multiple groups simultaneously but each group has it's own dedicated chef/guide. Our chef/guide was K and he was amazing. We had fun selecting our meals, cooking and eating together. A great experience!”

“Great way to spend an evening in Chiang Mai! After being collected from my hotel in a red truck, we had a quick visit to a local market to see the types of produce to expect in our cooking session. Then we were off to the cooking school for a brief tour of the garden before getting into the cooking class. Our guide was heaps of fun, cracking jokes and telling us about the ingredients and Thai cooking culture as we went. We each got to select our own menu from a set list (I chose tom som soup, khao soi curry, and pad thai) and we also made thai…”

Chiang Mai: Elephant Sanctuary & Thai Cooking Workshop

15.Elephant Sanctuary & Thai Cooking Workshop

★★★★★★★★★★4.9 · 276 reviews · 9 hours · from $63

A 9-hour Chiang Mai day trip combining an ethical elephant sanctuary visit with a Thai cooking workshop using herbs and ingredients from an on-site organic garden.

“This excursion was amazing. Pimdao is an excellent guide. She is kind, polite, and explains everything very clearly. I already came last year for the elephants and the bamboo rafting, so this year I chose the cooking workshop and I’m not disappointed at all. For people who want a good sanctuary (The elephants are rescued and well treated in this sanctuary; the caretakers look after them very well and do not force them to do anything. ) with good activities, don’t hesitate—you’ve just found the place to go. Shoutout to our driver, Narow (I’m not sure how to write it), who was really nice, very friendly, and a wonderful driver.”
